LOST TO THE ISLES - Volume 2 1942– 1943. By David W.Earl & Peter Dobson.
ISBN : 978-0-9523928-7-3
Having reached the seventieth anniversary since the end of the Second World War, it seems almost appropriate that we are able to shed light on the many aircraft losses that occurred around the isles, on events that had hitherto long since been forgotten, save of course for those directly involved. In this second volume, using archived documents, letters, and many previously unpublished photographs, you will find accounts of fifty six aircraft accidents and incidents. Some on land, others at sea, but all we feel being worthy of recognition in the annals of aviation history. Whilst book one mainly dealt with biplanes, seaplanes and airships, book two sees the Americans enter the war with their large four engine bombers B-17s and B-24s. As with volume one, this book includes biographies on all the airmen involved. Published in paperback 386 pages with 406 B/W photos, profile drawings, maps and diagrams throughout. £17.99.

Once again, as well as the many single engine types, the twin and four engine heavies were a prominent feature, both in a training and an operational role, and great tales of bravery among crews are recalled. Like previous volumes this book contains biographical details on all the airmen involved. Published in paperback 312 pages with B/W photos and aircraft profiles throughout. £15.99
