NEWS & INFO

UPDATE:  Oct 2023.   Volume 3 of DOWN IN THE HIGHLANDS is now finished and is the final volume in the Caithness,Sutherland and Ross & Cromarty areas. The book after problems with the previous printer, is now with another printer and should be out at the beginning of November.
This edition includes accounts on 25 aircraft and 42 biographies. Plus a separate appendix on other aircraft that couldn`t be included in the first two books owing to a sparse information.  Running to 210 pages this latest work includes a few prop driven types such as the Sea Fury, Lancaster, Oxford and Firebrand, but in the main deals with jet aircraft of the Cold War and Falkland era such as the Sea Hawk, Scimitar, Sea Vampire, Buccaneer, Harrier and F-111.

The problems with the printer means some stocks of other books have either run out or run  low and at present there are no copies of :  LOST TO THE ISLES Vols 2 & 4  and no copies of DOWN IN THE HIGHLANDS volume 1.  Copies of volume 2 of the latter is still available, as are volumes 1 and 3 of LOST TO THE ISLES.  Also THE STALYBRIDGE AIRMEN book is in stock.

Work continues on a new series of aircraft losses in the highlands, dealing with regions covering Inverness, Moray, Banfshire and Argyll. This again is likely to be in three volumes.

Used books from my own personal collection have been added.  These are on a first come first served basis with payment via PAYPAL ONLY using;  the.dukeof@gmail.com address.  Please add £3.10 P&P.  All books will be posted out to UK ADDRESS ONLY  Next working day.

Though of no surprise to several aviation friends, it can now be revealed that work on the next book project on aircraft losses in the Scottish Highlands is well under way. Accounts on over 100 aircraft in the counties of Caithness, Sutherland and Ross & Cromarty shall at present be covered in two volumes. In keeping with the LOST TO THE ISLES and DEADLY PENINSULA format, accounts on all the aircraft will be followed by biographies on the airmen. Some accounts have been written, but there is still much research to be done so no fixed date for publishing, though it is expected to be late 2020. Thanks to everyone that helped with information and photographs for previous volumes. Further updates will be posted here and on the Facebook page at:
