UPDATE: March 2026.
After 15 years as a self employed writer, historian, editor, publisher and distributor, it`s finally time to call it a day as retirement is now only a matter of a few months away. Though I am pleased to say that my work as a writer and aviation historian will hopefully continue for many more years.
The plan is just to stop trading officially as a business and run things as more of a hobby and pastime. The trade name Hanover Publications will remain and books and articles will still be written, but I shall endeavour to get copies printed for customers on demand release, rather than keep large stocks as funds will be limited and this will keep printing costs down and demand not being what it used to be, hopefully stay within the limits of taxable earnings.
NEW BOOK - PUBLICATION DATE MID-SUMMER TBA.
At present, work is nearing completion on the latest publication on Highland aircraft losses. Following on in similar format to DOWN IN THE HIGHLANDS which covered the counties of Caithness, Sutherland and Ross & Cromarty, which spanned three volumes from 1939 -1984, this new series entitled SHATTERED WINGS covers the Highland counties of Argyll, Banff, Inverness, Moray, Nairn and Aberdeenshire, beginning with volume one (1939-1941) which gives accounts on 65 accidents, along with 217 biographies, 326 photos and profile pictures and shall run to around 380 pages.
Here is the proposed front cover for the book:
Used books from my own personal collection have been added. These are on a first come first served basis with payment via PAYPAL ONLY using; the.dukeof@gmail.com address. Please add £3.10 P&P. All books will be posted out to UK ADDRESS ONLY Next working day.
Though of no surprise to several aviation friends, it can now be revealed that work on the next book project on aircraft losses in the Scottish Highlands is well under way. Accounts on over 100 aircraft in the counties of Caithness, Sutherland and Ross & Cromarty shall at present be covered in two volumes. In keeping with the LOST TO THE ISLES and DEADLY PENINSULA format, accounts on all the aircraft will be followed by biographies on the airmen. Some accounts have been written, but there is still much research to be done so no fixed date for publishing, though it is expected to be late 2020. Thanks to everyone that helped with information and photographs for previous volumes. Further updates will be posted here and on the Facebook page at:
